I conceived my dd first try but had some spotting...i had my blood taken and my prog was under 5....the next day i had it again and it started to rise naturally but they put me on a supplement just in case. I have always had regular 28-30 day cycles...and usually O around the 13th.

My ob said it wouldn't hurt to start taking prog (prometrium)...from day 12 on. She said it can make me feel tired and or dizzy. O have been charting and noticed a significant decel on day 9 &10. I had a positve opk all day Sat. We bd on Friday night and Sunday afternoon (couldn't on sat) On day 11 my temp jumped .5 degrees naturally and stayed there the next day. Last niight I took my first prometirum of 200 mg and had a huge spike today....97.5- 98.2. I am hearing that the prog can cause this but am concerned that I may not have REALLY O'd. Anyone have any ideas? Also....from day 9-11 I had A LOT of EW CM. Day 12, yesterday, I was bloated.

Just trying to figure everything out............a little confused and slightly worried. Not sure what to look for or if any of it will really mean anything considering I'm on the prog. My ob said to start it day 12....why? Do you think I've O'd? As far as I know I've never had a problem O. I've also never been diagnosed with a LPD.....(prob since I conceived right away with dd....just had some spotting)

Can anyone help me and or look at my chart?

Hey! I just finished my round of prometrium recently and it does cause the temp to spike. Mine went up overnight as well...from 97.3 to 98.0 . Its a side effect from the meds.

Progesterone taken BEFORE you ovulate can prevent you from ovulating. Progesterone is the hormone that is released for the corpus lutem. If you take the progesterone before you actually ovulate you are telling your body you have ovulated and not to do so again. It is also the heat producing hormone which makes your BBT rise. I did a lot of research about this when I was using natural progesterone cream but we want to remain open to life. Hope that helps!

I am surprised that they told you to take it from CD12 on but my last OB told me there isn't an exact science to when to start the prometrium. I think it will make it more difficult to know when you ovulate if you start it on CD12. I always started taking it when I was 3 dpo. Either way I think you timed things fine. You had a positive opk a couple days earlier so you probably did ovulate around the same time as you started the prometrium, but yeh it does make your temp go up.

I think you're fine. I think it will make it harder to interpret your chart though. In any case, I would follow your doctor's advice.

My OB said the same thing...to wait until 3 dpo. Since I'm fairly consistent, she said it should be okay to start it on cd 18 if I wasn't temping. It made my temp go up as well.

my OB told me to start my npc cd 12 also. I always waited until 3 dpo. Not al OBs know how to properly chart or follow progesterone protocol. My ob had me do a 21 day prog test and when it came back with low prog levels I had to tell her I ovulated the day before the test and my levels would still be low. Never occurred to her to test 7dpo. She also scoffed at me when I took her my charts. I really used to like her but now have switched to a better informed OB. Anyway, it's up to you. Implantation doesn't happen for 6-12 do waiting wouldn't hurt, but i'm not a doctor.

I could be wrong, but I think once you start the progesterone then stop it, it's too late for the cycle. The signals have been sent and stopping it could trigger AF. If so, AF will start about two days after you stop. If you did O, it could mess things up enough to where implantation may not occur (even though you can't really verify O this cycle...KWIM?). I think you should finish the cycle with the progesterone just in case, test on CD 26 then stop if negative and next cycle wait until you have confirmed O with CM dry up and a thermal shift. But that's just what I would do. Again, I'm not a doctor.
