Hey Girls! I have a question:
I just stared charting and I usually mark mine in the morning. I have my alarm set to wake me at the same time every morning so I can take my temp and I usually get online after my shower. So that's when I mark both my temp and my flow. But I noticed last night that my flow had been VERY heavy that morning when I marked it down, and dwindled down throughout the day. So ... It was marked H yesterday and M today. I'm wondering if I should go back and change yesterday's to M because truthfully I just came from the bathroom and it's more Light right now.
When's the best time to mark it on the chart? & Should I change it if the flow changes throughout the day?
Thanks

Hey girl...you want to mark you chart with whatever was the heaviest for that day. So if it starts out heavy and changes to a medium flow, you will want to mark heavy. Same goes for if you get two kinds of CM in a day, in that case you want to mark whichever is most fertile...so you'd mark watery over sticky.

Btw, you can go back and change your chart anytime, but to save the hassle, I try to wait until just before bed and update for the day.

It really doesn't matter how heavy it was. I'm not sure why it's an option on FF. It is kind of nice though if you have long or heavy flows to keep track for your doc.

LOL, funny, but you just said why it does matter how heavy it was.

You definitely want to keep track of your flow so that if you have any big changes in it you can let your doctor know about this. FF has it as an option so you can easily look to see how long AF was and what the pattern was because many women these days are just so busy that they can't or don't keep track of things like this in their mind.

Christina, keep in mind what I said about updating FF twice a day if necessary. In the morning you can mark your temp, if there was BD'ing the night previous, information about your flow during AF and what type of CM you experienced from the day before. At night time you can notate anything else like mood, skin breakouts, exercise, fatigue, etc. I really do find it easier to fool with it twice a day...it's more accurate that way for me.

Thanks I think it's a better idea for me to check it twice a day. I didn't even know FF had some of those options. I guess because I do it in the morning when I'm not fully awake - so I don't forget to mark my temp. But I think tomorrow I'm going to spend more time with it, looking at all the options it has. I'm coming to the end of AF so it's time to start paying attention to the other stuff LOL.
SIL, I may call you in the next few days if I have trouble finding everything

I normally update mine twice a day as well.

As for flow, I agree about the heaviest that day. =)

What I meant was it has no relevance on your charting. It wont affect what day you do or don't O. It really doesn't even matter to your doctor unless you are having periods that are lasting more then 10 days lots of spotting through the cycle, or if your period is excessively heavy (meaning you are going through a pad every hour or two). In that instance I'm sure you wouldn't need to record how heavy your flow is for you or your doctor to know there is an issue.
