For the past two months I have had a luteal phase of 9 days with several days of heavy spotting prior to AF. SO I called my Dr to ask if I could get progesterone testing done. The nurse told me that it could take a year from the time that DS weans for me get pregnant and just to relax and call them back then...

I asked her how that was going to help my luteal phase and she continued to me that I might not even be ovulating. I tried to explain to them that I chart using BBT and CM.

The nurse was like what do you mean you chart your CM. I explained to her how you observe it. She said well in the 26 years I have been a nurse I have never had anyone tell me that they look at their TP every day and write down what they saw.

HELP

Ugh. I have no advice, really except to ask to speak directly to your doctor and hope that she is more educated. I really can't believe some people have no clue about the basic fertility signs I get really annoyed that some medical professionals just can't believe that a woman actually knows what is going on with their body.

That is weird! I would talk to a doctor if possible, or another nurse?

Oh wow, really?! That's really sad. I would ask to speak to the doctor (or a different nurse who knows something). Is this an ob office??

It is my OB office, that is what frustrates me the most.

luckily that is just the nurse. The doc should know more!

When I was having fertility issues my doc was psyched that i already had a years worth of charts for her to look at. She saw a problem and we made a plan, but then i magically got pregnant somehow.

Wow. That sounds frustrating. I've not had that experience with a dr or nurse before, but I've also never had to mention it to one. A thought is maybe to ask a midwife or doula you trust how they would approach the situation? They might have a good diplomatic way of handling it while still educating the educated professionals.
