I awoke an hour and a half early today, and I was freezing. My temp was 98.3. By 1 PM I was exhausted so I went to take an hour or two nap. My husband let me sleep 5 hours. =P So out of curiosity I temped again since I wasn't freezing this time. It was 99.1. What does that mean?

well thats a hard one, if you were cold I would just discard that temp, I wouldnt use the temp you had from a nap because they say to temp after 3 consecutive hrs of sleep and it was later in the day. Just wait until the next day to take your temp accordingly..good luck

Agreed. Either totally discard, or if you must, make a note of what happened on it so you remember later.

Thanks. I'd never use that temp. I was just curious why it would be so much higher on less sleep. My temp in the morning is normally fairly accurate.

Your bbt is going to be totally different if you are sleeping at a totally different time of day. That's why charting with shift work and cross country travel is so difficult. BBT is not just influenced by how many hours you sleep, but also by your circadian rhythms. So, your afternoon nap probably fell into a part of your day when you would be naturally warmer.
