Hey all,

I've lent out my copy of TCOYF and I KNOW that this problem is addressed in it.

What does it say about starting your period with brown blood? I'd love if someone could check for me.
THANKS!

Pre or post-menstrual brown spotting can indicate a hormonal problem, usually low progesterone.

Thanks...And long time no talk Last time I chatted with you was a little over 3 years ago. Before I had my first baby

Good for you for still being here!

I became Hypothyroid after my second baby...could that be it?
Also, I think I may have lost a baby. I had SUCH a late period. I blood tested at HcG level 2 and then again a few weeks later at nothing, and then got the brown...then today I had INTENSE pain and there was a small grey thing (looked very fetal) with an actual cord hanging from it. And I've been bleeding SO much. But now the pain is just normal period pain.

I dunno though.

Thanks for letting me know what it can mean!

In a roundabout way, yes. Being hypothyroid can affect the process of ovulation, which is what causes progesterone deficiency in the Luteal Phase, which can cause brown spotting. Usually just treating the thyroid resolves the rest.

I'm sorry if you suspect you've just had a loss. In that case, brown spotting can be a normal part of a m/c.

I'm alright with it. I don't know if that's what happened or not. So I'm not gonna allow myself to get really worked up about it. I sincerely hope I didn't lose, but I'll never know for sure.

Thanks though.
