I've had my BBT thermometer for about a year now.

It occurred to me the other day that I should probably start being mindful of just how long the batteries are expected to last if I am using it every day.

Does anyone know when I should be changing the batteries? I have no idea of the lifespan of batteries in a thermometer! I don't want to start getting inaccurate readings.

that's a good question. I think that's why my chart was so goofy last month. My thermometer croaked on me even AFTER i changed batteries my chart was up and down and all around last month but i chalked it up to coming off of breastfeeding/weaning and this month i started using a different thermometer and my chart is pretty much what it was before I got pregnant and had my son. My new one takes longer to get the temp but i'll survive.

That is definitely something to watch out for because when I started noticing that my temps were looking the same a little too often and the thermometer was taking longer and longer to read my temp...I finally clued in that hey...my battery is going caputs. BUT....I used my other for a few years at least before that happened.

I bought a new one that holds 5 temps and only takes 5 seconds but I hate it. I think I'm just gonna look at replacing the battery in my old trusty easy to use one.

Used properly they can last a really long time. Just watch out for a lot of repetitive temps, a dimmer display, longer waiting, quieter beeping, etc. Typical signs of pretty much anything that the batteries are getting low.

Yeah I know i've had mine for at least like 9 years, but I only actually used it daily for charting for like 3 years.
