So I dunno what is going on with my chart. it doesn't look like I've O'd at all, and I have been spotting for 8 days. I don't know if it's safe for us to be having unprotected sex at this point....but we are anyways.
The rules for avoiding specify that days with CM or spotting are potentially fertile. The spotting could be related to rising estrogen levels because your body is trying to ovulate, or it could be related to dropping estrogen because your body attempted ovulation and wasn't successful. Just because you haven't ovulated yet this cycle doesn't mean you won't at all. It could happen any time. When CM is present or spotting is present (and 3 days after it stops) you are potentially fertile.
Well, is it possible that the spotting counts as my period and that I was annovulatory this cycle? The spotting was dark brown the whole time, and only today turned pink...now it's gone.

No, a new cycle only starts when a bleed follows ovulation. Bleeding that happens when there is no ovulation is not the start of a new cycle, because such bleeding can be related to ovulation itself. It's color or heaviness doesn't really matter, ovulation bleeding can be any color, very light, heavy enough to mistake for a real period - or anything in between. It's just one long pre-ovulatory phase. Keep watching for O.
