Ladies, this is only my 2nd month TTC, and my first month charting BBT. Last month I relied soley on CM to tell me when ovulation was going to occur, and as far as I can tell, it was on CD 12. This month I've had EWCM starting on day 15, and it is still EWCM on day 19. My cycles are like clockwork, always 28 days (maybe half a day difference). I have yet to see a temperature spike, and yes I've been following all the rules religiously. Question 1) is it possible to have this much difference in ovulation days from month to month with a regular cycle (at least 7 days difference). Question 2) is it possible that I've ovulated without a temperature spike? Question 3) what kind of things would delay ovulation?
PS- I'm having what I think is ovulation pain today, so maybe it's finally O day!

Hi and
It is definitely possible to have an "off" cycle, even if they are normally 28 days. Chances are, you're either having a long cycle with a delayed ovulation, or you are having an annovulatory cycle. I have never heard of an ovulation without a temperature spike so I doubt that would be the case. There are a lot of factors that could delay ovulation, including stress, illness, diet, etc.
Is there any way you can post your chart so that we can take a look?

I can't figure out how to post it, but pretty much my temps have been between 97.2 and 97.4 since day one. I had one spike of 97.58, but I was up a lot that night, and it went right back down to 97.2 the next day I'm still producing EWCM, and I haven't even begun to dry up. Are annovulatory cycles normal?

If you are using Fertility Friend, just click on "Settings" under "Account" (on the left hand side of the page. Then click on "Home Page Settings". You'll see a direct link for your chart. Click on "Get Sharing Code/Buttons" right under that and it'll give you the code to paste into a post.
As for annovulatory cycles being normal...yes and no. Yes, in that pretty much every woman will have one at some point for whatever reason. Some women have them more often and that should be looked into. Obviously, for TTC you don't want that. If you don't ovulate, then there's no egg to fertilize. If you have one annovulatory cycle, then I wouldn't worry too much. If your cycle goes on too long without ovulating, then definitely call your doctor so that he/she can look into it and give you something to bring on AF. If it happens often, then you would want your doctor to really figure out what's going on. I'm not saying that's what's going on with you so don't get worried. It is most likely a delayed ovulation. You will be able to see more of a pattern of what your cycles are doing the more you chart with temps. OPK's are also a good tool to use since they tell you in advance when ovulation should be occurring. Please note, though...you can get a + OPK and not ovulate (same with fertile CM). Only temping will show that you have ovulated. I hope this wasn't all too confusing for you.

I agree, what it sounds like is that you are going to ovulate late or not ovulate. That is a normal thing to have happen once in a blue moon. If you ovulate late, your period will appear to be "late." If you don't ovulate, your period might be late or it might come on time.
It is possible to ovulate without a temp shift, but it is really, really super rare. If you don't get a temp shift it is 99% sure you did NOT ovulate. Plus, the fact that you are still getting fertile CF also makes it clear you haven't ovulated yet. You will probably get a temp shift within about a day of your CF drying up.

I don't think I'm psyching myself out, but I really think today's O day. If it is delayed O, would that for sure push back my period, or would it shorten the luteal phase? I know a short luteal phase is bad news for implantation.

It would push back your period. Your LP is always the same length, give or take a day.

Now I'm excited! i just had some really stretchy EWCM (not a ton of it, but it stretched a couple of inches) AND my cervix is so high that I couldn't even reach it. Looks like O day has finally arrived! Funny how your cycle can be so regular until you are tracking it TTC.
On a side note, is it okay if your stretchy CM is cloudy? I've never had it clear egg white. I've just been considering EWCM if it's super stretchy. Is this correct?

Yeah, I am pretty sure that is normal. It is what I have had the last few cycles, anyway! Get BDing!!

Too funny! It just proves that I have way too much time on my hands and I tend to spend it doing TTC research online. One of the things I love about JM are all the useful articles. Between the articles and the women on the forums, I have learned so much. I love it!
I also agree that the cloudy EWCM is normal. I think the most important thing is the consistency and yours sounds like it's great!

It spiked! It spiked! Up .5 degrees F from the last 4 days! I know it's gotta stay up there, but it looks like I just entered the 2WW. Any survival tips?

Yay!!! I hope those temps stay up and you get your crosshairs!!! I wish I could give you survival tips. I can say things like "relax" or "keep busy" but I'd be a hypocrite because I always end up being a total wreck during the 2ww! LOL!! Seriously though, I find that these boards are a great help during the 2ww since there are so many of us going through the same thing. Good luck!!

Grr.... my temp spiked back down this morning. Can somebody look at my chart and try to help me interpret it? FF says they can't detect ovulation. I didn't officially chart until day 13, but all the temps before that were in the 97.2 and 97.5 range. Any opinions? My Ovulation Chart (did I post that right?)

I think you O'd on CD 19 and that the dip today is the corpus luteum dip (totally normal...just means your corpus luteum is producing progesterone). My guess as to why FF hasn't given you crosshairs is because you started temping later in the cycle. The next few temps will make things more clear though.

I know you're supposed to look at the chart as a whole and not obsess about individual temps, but that's so hard to do I'm so impatient and just want to understand what's going on in my body.

Could the corpus luteum cause slight ovarian pain? I've had ovary pain for several days. I have a history of cysts, and it feels like that, but they usually cause issues during my period or the day of ovulation.

CD 19 for sure. ANd it's true - charting is all about the big picture, not the individual temps.
