Does anyone know anything about this method of charting? We had an IUI done with our first child, got pregnant the first try, got pregnant on her first birthday naturally and had our 2nd in May 2011. My cycles returned in July 2011 and we have been loosely TTC since October 2011 - we're not TTC now because I don't want a spring baby, but we're looking into going to the Pope Paul Vi institue for TTC (We will start TTC in October) and they want me to have done 2 months of The Creighton Model charting....how is this different than charting with, say, fertility friend?

Can anyone share an experience with it? I'd really love some info!

Thanks!

We used it from 2005 - 2006, for TTA purposes and so I could access their doctors for help with my PCOS. It's a very detailed form of charting, but what really counts is the medical assistance that comes with it. They refer to the chart for everything they do; it's give clues as to what the problem might be so the doctors know where to start investigating. Where you are in your cycle determines when certain tests and treatments are done. I'd recommend it to anyone wanting help with reproductive issues.

The whole philosophy of the PPVI Institute is to figure out what the underlying problems are and fix those so that you can conceive normally. That's partly because it's healthier to conceive naturally (lower chance of miscarriage, premature delivery, birth defects, etc), but partly because many artificial reproductive technologies just bypass the problem without actually fixing it. You may conceive, and that's great - but those underlying problems can still do long term damage to your health when they were left untreated. They look at a much bigger picture of health than most fertility clinics do.

Thanks for the input! Do I chart the same way as I did before? With BBT? Or is it more indepth from my end of the deal? I haven't had time to sit down and read on what they sent me - it's VERY indepth and I have a 1 yr old and 2 yr old that are both super sick, and im sick...so my attention span is non existant at the moment!

No, it doesn't require a BBT. It's a very in depth mucus charting, but it's not really possible to self teach. You have to work closely with one of their instructors to learn how to do it all.
