In all honesty, I think checking it that much in a day is a bit of overkill. Its like temping throughout the day...its just not necessary. I usually check my cervix once a day at roughly the same time every day. And I always record the very first impression I have. The more the cervix is disturbed, the more it is going to change. I wouldn't worry too much about it being to your left, mine also lies far to the left. My gyno always has to hunt it down when I go in for my annuals, and I always have to tell them where to look.
And I would also so like to add that I wouldn't rely heavily on the cervix as an indicator of ovulation or anything else. Soooo many things can effect it, and I've never found mine to be consistent from cycle to cycle at all.
