It seems the conventional wisdom is to have had at least 3 hours of undisturbed sleep before temping. Is this true? What exactly is undisturbed? If someone tosses and turns, or you have to kick a dog off the bed an hour before temping, will that mess up your chart? This is a newbie question, I'm sure. My apologies and thanks for any help or resources. I broke down and ordered TCOYF, but it hasn't arrived yet. I was hoping to learn all I could for free.

The more consistent your sleep is, the more consistent your chart will be. That said, you can still figure out what's going on even if your temps fluctuate a bit.

I do toss and turn alot but my temps seem to not be too all over the place. so i take the undisturbed thing as not having to get up (i have dogs that i kick off the bed too) or nothing really disturbs me like someone turns on the lights or the tv on that wakes me up. i think it just matters whats consistant for you.

That helps, too. Usually it's just the dog, but sometimes it's my 3 year old needing to potty at 5 a.m. and I temp at 6. I can't really control that.
