I have had similar problems and am in the process of trying to get diagnosed with PCOS. My cycles are between 31 and 89 days long. I have LOTS of cramping all cycle long with fertile patches.
Ultrasouns have showed that my ovaries are polycystic. I am not trying to say that you have it, but I would talk to your doctor especially if you are experiencing lots of cramping throughout your cycle. I would see if you can have a vaginal ultrasound done. That would help to give you some answers.

thanks, I am just trying to search for what could be the problem. we don't have insurance so i'd like to be able to find out on my own so i can search for natural cures as i would rather try that first and we don't have money to spend on doctors right now as our dd is not even close to paid off because we had no insurance when we had her.

I dont think you have enough chart history to even begon to looka t it and try to say that you have pcos.....I do not think you have it at all b/c you are ovulating and this month is earlier than last month.....PCOS is a hard thing to diagnose and its also something that takes quite awhile to figure out kwim....See usually woman go through months and months of not ovulating or ovulating on like cd40 something and thats what gets the docs worried kwim....I dont htink you have it

If you are concerned about it, I would see your doctor.

thanks guys. actually i am pretty happy with my last too cycles so maybe it is nursing still making me o late. it is just that this happened alot before dd too, i am just trying to get some idea what the problem is so when i do go to doctor, they can do only the tests really needed, in other words i don't really think doctors can know as much about someone as you can know about yourself. i am going to chart a few more cycles before showing them to the doc

Your one chart does look suspicious...BUT, lots of other situations can cause a chart like that. Care to share a bit more about you? Before jumping on the PCOS self-diagnosis wagon, let's rule out some things that cause multiple eggwhite patches and delayed ovulation first....
Are you post partum? If yes, have you had at least 6 regular cycles since the birth?
Are you breastfeeding?
Have you recently discontinued a hormonal contraceptive?
Are you over 35?
What is your cycle history like - have you always had long, irregular cycles?

My daughter is almost 17 months. I had af 7 months ago and had what seemed like 2 normal periods, but i wasn't charting so i don't know for sure. then many episodes of light spotting and 3 normal periods
Are you breastfeeding? yes, although only about 3 times a day
Have you recently discontinued a hormonal contraceptive? no, have not been since before dd
Are you over 35?
What is your cycle history like - have you always had long, irregular cycles?yes since i was about 19 which i thought was because of cysts not necesarily pcos, but i once went to the e.r. and they said i had a cyst rupture because of fluid behind my kidney. they were not at all concerned.[/b]

If they've always been on the long, irregular side - then PCOS is more likely. When breastfeeding, you should see a gradual shortening and improvement in your cycles as time goes on and especially after weaning. With PCOS, they tend to not improve - but get progessively worse as your body has more time to developg new cysts, which interfere with regular cycling.
