Not everybody sees a dip. You really can't tell until you see the rise when you O. I have seen some people dip the day before, but not everyone dips. Some dip two days before. I would start bding to cover your bases though. Good luck! We want you in the July DDC!

^What Teresa said. I sometimes dip the day before, 2 days before or the day of O. I don't think there is any rule but when you see the dip I think it is safe to say O is approaching and BDing is in order!

oh, ok. why wasn't I thinking of that? Duh. I've got charts like that. We'll get some good bding in. I go to a passion party tonight and then I'm driving the hour ride back at 10pm to bd! LOL

The only way to know the EXACT day that ovulation occurs is to have daily transvaginal ultrasounds and blood draws.

So keep in mind that charting simply gives us an estimate of when it happens - a very good estimate, accurate within +/- 2 days, but still an estimate.

Ovulation usually follows a +OPK by 12-48hours. An OPK simply tells you that your body is trying to ovulate, but is not a guarantee that you will. It's possible to have a positive OPK and not ovulate after all.

Basal body temperatures rise in response to progesterone, which is produced after ovulation happens. Sometimes it can take an extra day or two for temperatures to respond to the production of progesterone by rising, so you can't always assume that ovulation happened the day before the thermal shift - it may not have.

Cervical mucus is your most accurate reference in terms of detecting ovulation. Ovulation usually occurs closest (on or within a day or two) to the LAST day of slippery mucus, before there is a drastic drying up.

Thanks Shawna, That was so helpful. I have a question about CM. I believe i still get EWCM after O for a day. Is that ok? I know for sure b/c of the +OPK`s and O pain also cervix check. My cervix drops immediately after O. But i still get EWCM.
