I have never been told it is bad to O late. I O late too, between CD 18-22 usually. I think you are fine. I've actually heard that O'ing too early chances the egg not being mature...

I am a semi-late o'er. I usually o between 19-21 and I have had 2 happy healthy pregnancies and didn't have any problems getting pregnant either time. I think maybe if you o really late like after day 35 (pulling it out of the air) that that is when you start having problems with overly mature eggs.

I just pulled that number out of the air-I haven't done enough research on it (haven't needed to ) to know at what point an egg is considered overmature. I just wanted to set the op's mind at ease that o'ing on cd20 certainly isn't late enough to cause a problem. Sorry for freaking you out. I know there are others on the board who know more about it and could tell how late is too late.

eeeek.. i O'ed on day 38 this month....
why would it be bad though, surely that means you just release the egg later? just means you get your LH later in the cycle, as all the eggs are thre already I don't think we can over cook eggs can we? :S

I've never heard of O'ing late being a problem. There are tons of women on these boards that have O'ed late and went on to have a healthy baby. But having a short LP is definitely a problem. The reason that is is because if you do conceive, your body does not give the fertilized egg the time it needs to implant. If your LP is shorter than 11 days long you shoudl address that to your dr. I have heard that taking B6 supplements helps to increase your LP (its also good for your heart). HTH!

ovulating late doesnt mean anythign really...an egg releases on cd 14 aand an egg released on cd43 really are the same maturity...its just that the cd 43 egg may have taken longer to reach the mature stage needed for ovulation....ther is absolutely nothing wrong with ovulating later , its just how your body may work,,,i hope that makes you ALL feel better lol

Everybody gave great info already. I wanted to add my two cents.. I read on a article a while ago, egg should be 25mm for a health baby and pregnancy. Sometimes with late or early ovulation eggs can be at different sizes like 19mm, 16mm . So those results either with BFN or miscarriages.

Also Some researches say that Long Follicular Phases produces more girls than boys.

OMG!!! Thank you for posting this & all the responses. I posted about 2 weeks ago about this issue & didn't get much feedback. Must have been my post title, LOL. Glad to know that Oing on CD 22 isn't going to be bad for fertility!
