Today was my first time taking my temp, I have no idea how long a basal thermometer normally takes but I felt like I was laying there FOREVER.
I was expecting it to beep when it was done but it just never did anything.
I checked it and had a reading of 97.70, i'm not sure if it's correct but I charted it anyways.
Did I do something wrong? How long does a basal normally take?

I use a digital, so I just lay there and wait for the beep. What kind do you have???

I have a digital too and sometimes mine will take no time at all and other times it will take like 4 or 5 minutes...not sure why, but it does get annoying!

Eeeek!
I guess i'll have to listen more closely.. or just wait longer.
I was stalking other peoples charts and the temp I got seemed awfully high compared to other people.

I have a healthy living therm too....sometimes it takes a couple of seconds, sometimes it takes longer. You might want to check it right after you turn it on though, when I bought mine, it said "Lo" after you turn it on...it might need a new battery--which you can get at walmart pretty easily.

It most definitely says Lo when I turn it on, but still works.
I read through the manual and apparantly it ISN'T going to beep when it's done?
It says something about how the reading should only take 1 minute.
Couldn't hurt to give it a new battery. How do I find one of those?

Mine definitely beeps when it's done. I would go get a new battery....take the battery from the therm and take it to walmart or a drug store...you should be able to find one where they have all the batteries--at walmart they're at the electronics department.
How long did you leave the therm in? Try it again, just in case, and let it go...see if it beeps at all.

I laid there for a good 5 minutes without a beep, but it had a temp on it that wasn't moving up or down when I checked it so I assumed that was my temp.

I have the same thermometer. 97.70 is the default temp. When I take my temp, it takes a minute to register and then it beeps.
It sounds like you need to exchange your thermometer or get another one.

My actual reading was 97.58, I wasn't reading it correctly but went back and checked once I saw how to get the last reading (I was half asleep when I looked at it the first time).
I remember it saying 97.58 when I fell back asleep, woke up and forgot, but it still didn't beep when it was 'finished' taking my temp- IF it was done taking my temp.
The manual says it should only take 1 minute, but is that actually correct- or does yours take longer?
I suppose i'm trying to figure out if I ACTUALLY left it in long enough.

Ok, so I did a bit of research- "Lo" doesn't mean low battery- just that it's ready to take the temp.
"T" means low battery.
I went upstairs and just put the tip of the thermometer between my two fingers and waited for it to finish. It beeped 3 times when it was done.
I don't know if I just didn't hear it this morning.. or if I didn't wait long enough, i'm not sure. So that temp I have on my chart may not be correct.
Luckily AF is still here so that temp wasn't too important.
Guess i'll try again tomorrow, and hopefully have better result haha.

Haha, well, i'm glad I could figure it out for more than just me!
A complicated little thing it is.
If you get another 97.7, hold down the power button for 2 seconds and it will give you your actual last reading

I didn't hear it beep AGAIN this morning- and then my SO's alarm kept going off. Couldn't take it anymore, checked the thermometer and it had a set temp on it (not moving like it was still taking one).
Maybe i'm just going deaf because I tested it last night and it beeps 3 times when it's done.
