Afternoon ladies,

I have a query that I hoped someone might be able to help with. I'm so pleased I just found this board! I'm quite new to charting, as DH and I plan to start TTC our first this month, so I've only been charting for a couple of cycles.

Here's my dilemma: on Fertility Friend, the advanced ovulation detector is putting the day I ovulated as cycle day 17. I think that this is based on the temperatures I've recorded. However, my CM (accompanied by quite a dramtic dip) suggests to me that I ovulated on cycle day 16.

Because of it being December, with a fair few late-nighters and more than a couple of glasses of bubbly, my temperatures have been quite erratic. And I've not been great at recording them this cycle (I'm only semi-charting at the moment to get an idea of my cycles. With my new cycle, I'm planning to be much more thorough.).

So is it more reliable to go with temps or CM? If I go with CM, then I have no bi-phasic chart (as before and after O temps are pretty similar). Although, even if I take cycle day 17 to be the one I ovulated on, there's not much in the way of low temps before that. Or is this chart just suggesting an anovulatory cycle? I'm hoping for AF tomorrow, so I can move on to a new chart, but I'm impatient and want to know what's going on!!!

Any help much appreciated. And I'm sorry for having rambled on for so long.

Thanks,
Nichola

Welcome to the board! It's very hard to determine if you've O'd because your post O temps are either missing or not accurate because of late temping. You really need to temp at the same time each morning after at least 3 hours of sleep. IF you temp correctly, then temps are the best way to confirm O. CM is a good indicater of when you are gearing up to O, and when you have fertile cm (egg white cm) you should bd on those days because dh lil fellas will live longer. just from my experience, I'll have EWCM then O 1-2 days later.

Good Luck!!

It looks like you ovulated from looking at you chart, but with all the off time temps it is really hard to pick what day you ovulated. Hopefully, you'll get a BFP this month and it won't matter.

Thank you, ladies. Lots of helpful advice.

I understand about the temps and timing thing (I've found TCOYF really good reading!); just putting it into practice over the festive season was difficult ... But with the new year, it should be a lot easier to chart properly - particularly now that there's a reason to!

With today's temps it looks like AF may be on it's way. Hopefully, I am wrong, but with the holidays out of the way hopefully you'll get your bfp real soon!
