Hey ladies!
I'm new at this, and this is my first month charting. I know it'll probably be wonky the first month. DH 7 I will TTC next cycle.
How's it look so far? I'm still not really all that sure what's 'normal' for me ... and I'm only @ CD 12... hopinh for some of those crosshairs int he next few days lol... I'd like to know the signs etc to watch for for next month!

I also have a question... I am very physically active. I won't worry too much about this months chart being super-acurate because it was new years & my birthday we did a lot of travel, I drank alcohol, and didn't work out at all!
Anyway- in a roundabout way my question is this: how much excercise is too much? I have worked out, etc for about 10 years now... but the last year my trainig has become very intense... I work out (weight train, karate, kickboxing, running) about an average of 9-12 hours a week. And the martial arts aspect is very demanding physically. I also eat more food than I bet you would believe... I eat clean, 6 times a day, very nutritious whole foods that are mostly in their natural state (no chemicals, preservatives, etc) and I don't drink anything except water. (Ok, and a bit of booze for new years & my bday!!)

Will it hurt my chances of conceiving? I'm not one of those crazy over excercisers... I work out more than some, and less than some people at my karate school. I am very fit, and I have pretty regular periods. I'm not training for the olympics or anything!!
What do ya'll think??

I've heard over the years that if you actively exercised before you were pg it would not be a problem to carry it on through out pg and that the only way that activity is a problem is if it were stepped up at the time of pg. Obviously as a pg progresses it would need to be toned down a bit under drs supervision but I can't see why what you do now is going to be a problem because your body is used to it. Thats my opinion anyway.

As for the chart I've only just started myself so I can't really comment on that. I hope that you get the hang of it all soon and get that BFP asap!

You are off to a good start on the charting. its hard to say how it looks right now without being able to look back at other cycles, but as of right now looks just fine.

As for the working out..... I guess I look at it this way... if I am TTC and knowing that I hope to be pg and God willing will be pg soon I would only do work outs at this point that would be okay to do while pg.

I personally don't think karate would be something good to do while pg. What if you got kicked in the stomach by accident??

Plus I know when you are pg you have to make sure your heart rate stays below a certain number.

I guess I would look to see what you would do as far as working out once you are pg, and maybe start doing that NOW while TTC.

Well ... if you've been exercising about the same amount through all your fertile years, and your cycles have stayed pretty consistent, I wouldn't worry about it. But if you started exercising more after you'd been menstruating for a while and it changed your cycles somehow ... made them longer or less regular, etc, then I might cut back just a little to see if it helps.

I think you were asking whether it would affect your chart and fertility, right? Not pregnancy? I know that's how everyone else answered it but it seemed like you were asking something else to me.

So if your periods are different when you do a lot of exercise, I might personally cut back (or not do such high-intensity stuff for part of your workout time). If they're the same no matter how much or often you exercise, don't worry. I know when I get on an exercise kick my cycles get much longer and that would reduce the number of times you ovulate in a year, making it less likely for you to conceive, since you don't have as many "chances".

Of course you do still want to be healthy so I wouldn't stop completely. A reasonable amount is fine.

FYI...I got pg with my first while training in martial arts. I even took my Black Tip test while around 6 mos pg. I remember that my instructor did cut back on the sit-ups though and the higher belts were supposed to be trained to "not contact". I too heard that it was okay to continue as you were when it comes to exercise and such. However, this time around (since it just hasn't happened quickly for me) I have managed to cut back on going to the gym this particular cycle. Hope it works for me.

Thanks ladies!
I guess what I want to know is both, will it affect chart & ability to conceive.

As for the kickboxing & karate I am currently not sparring, or doing contact. We use focus pads etc a lot for kicking & punching.... there is a chance I will get kicked in the stomach... but not likely right now. I've only been punched in the face so far haha
When I do become pg I will tell my senseis right away instead of waiting, and I will talk to my doc to get her viewpoint of course.

The kickboxing is more intense than the karate as heart rate does go thru the roof (we do 2 minute intervals)...

I just love it and know I don't have to give it up while pg... just take it a bit easy. There was another girl there who did it until she was about 6 mths along... she just didn't jump during cardio or do all the sit ups etc...

It's my secret passion... I was hoping to start competing this year and go to world's in the late summer (I missed them in Spain last year because I coudn't commit time for extra training due to my wedding & wedding planning & 3 week honeymoon to Italy). Our school won 14 medals, 8 gold's. I want one! lol....
Well I'm 30 and DH & I also want a baby... so I will train and stay in shape as much as I can during training then will get weght off in 3 mths I figure then can go back and train again to compete.
Hmm... I always go off on a tangent! LOL! Sorry about that!

I will keep updating my chart... chart stalkers and comments welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
