Spoke with my Dr. today and this is what she said...
1. Charting is nice, but doesn't let you know if you've ovulated or not.
2. There is no such thing as a "triphasic" chart in anyone's cycle.
3. The only way you can know if you ovulated is by a progesterone blood test on CD21 or if you're pregnant.
- She then told me to let her know when I'm on CD19 so she can schedule the progesterone test for CD21. She's set on the idea that I don't ovulate and wants to start me on Clomid in March. What annoys me the most is that I SAW her on CD 19, why didn't she have me WAIT for the progesterone test instead of testing me on CD19?
?? I'm confused, I was getting all excited about the possibility of a triphasic chart...

I understand that some doctors don't think temping alone is accurate, but I believe that yes it can tell you when you ovulate if you have a clear biphasic chart. And yours is clearly biphasic. There are many women though that take clomid even if they are Oing to make sure they are Oing a healthy egg. Good Luck, I still think your chart is rockin!!!!!
BTW, is your doc an OB or an RE?

My old dr told me charting was a waste of time and that it just makes women go crazy. LOL.

I think charting is not a reliable way of "predicting" ovulation, but I do think it is reliable to tell if you ovulated. Since you can't tell when you ovulated until afterwards, it is difficult to rely on charting if you have irregular cycles. You probably need to add OPKs along with charting for best results.

Some docs are all for it, and others say it does nothing.
BUT look at all those charts out there, it certainly does tell you something!
I had a doc tell me that charting didn't tell you anything as well. That the only way to know was to do OPKs, and then the test on day 19, not day 21 like your doc said.
I was like whatever!

At least your doc believes in progesterone testing. Mine could care less about it. She says even if it is low it does nothing to help with keeping a baby. I'm hoping I get pg soon so I can just switch drs again.

I went to a new OB in december and she laughed at my chart! She said it was a primitive, useless way of finding out absolutely nothing, because its not reliable and a waste of time. She also said that the reason I couldent find any BBT thermometers anywhere (Im in Spain) was because charting is no longer recomended and hasnt been for years..she actually found it amusing that I charted and sat and giggled at my chart and said she thought it was cute that I thought it was doing any good
Basiclly, she totally humilated me and made me feel SO stupid! Do I still chart? Yes! Why? Because I know that its worked for so many women and that some doctors do recomend it.
The new OB I saw wanted me to use OPK¨s exclusivly..but I think thats dumb! Especially with my cycles.
Id go bankrupt buying them!
If you want to chart, chart away!! Lots of doctors still beleive in it.

Oh, man. I feel ya.
I went to the gyno just a week ago because I was on CD 60something and there were NO signs of AF or O. He said "You mean you haven't bled in two months?" and I was like "Well, I had spotting on CD 27". And he said "Then you had a period and there's nothing I can do for you. That means you're only on CD 30something." Ugh! Spotting is NOT a period (especially not spotting for ONE freaking DAY!) and I told him so. He's like "Who's the one who went to medical school? Me or you?"
I told him "Who's been HAVING PERIODS for TEN YEARS? ME OR YOU?" and left.
But unfortunately I can't afford to see another (or even him again).

Pretty good retort there!
I can't believe the bedside manners of these doctors!!! Do they even try to back up their theory of charting being useless with any type of study or anything???
