Charting just basically helps you pinpoint you ovulation date. SO you can BD on the correct days. I found it helpful. When I did not chart I always had signs of ovulation, but I kept missing the egg. The first month I charted I git PG. Now that is not the case with everyone, but I do think it is helpful. Especially since you just got off birth control. It will help you become familar with your body!!!

If it wasnt for charting,Id still be BDing like a crazy person and waiting for a BFP that would probably have taken forever to come.
Thanks to charting I realised that my cycles are so messed up because I dont O at all...I would never have found that out on my own.Its thanks to charting that I moved on to Clomid
If theres no egg, theres no baby kwim?
Also, people have found out that they O later or earlier than they thought, which means their timing was all wrong..so thanks to charting they know exactly when to BD.Its helped lots of people in so many ways so I think its something very positive for anyone whos TTC.
It does have a downside though...
Since Im temping,I have a hard time sleeping at night because I obsess about the 3 hours sleep I need in order for my temps to be acurate.I also worry when ever my temps go down and I spend hours looking at my chart wondering what will happen the next day etc
It does ad to the stress of TTC a little..but considering that everything is stressing when it comes to baby making, its no biggie

I did a few charts to find out when I "normally" O and then I knew when to BD. The first time I had a MC and then this time IT STUCK!!!!I found it very helpful to get PG.

Good I am glad. I am just starting out at all this. I know a ton about being a mommy (i am not one yet), but have had tons of years experiece with kids. I started babysitting when I was 10 and my ideal job would be being a nanny. I will put my chart on my sig. thanks

It *is* helpful, but it can also be a great source of stress for some women - which does NOT help fertility at all. Stress and fertility are not friends.

It is not necessary, though it does help identify a correct due date (calculating from last menstral period is only accurate if you have 28 day cycles, and only 12% of women have those).

Temperatures do not help you get pregnant. Knowing about your cervical mucus helps you get pregnant, because when mucus is present before ovulation it can keep sperm alive up to 5 days. Mucus becomes progessively wetter and more lubricative as ovulation approaches, and it dries up drastically after ovulation.

The SIMPLEST way to try to achieve pregnancy is to pay attention to your cervical mucus. When mucus is present, make love.

I guess it was not my month last month then.....I totally had the egg white CM and everything and we BD 3 days before I was suppose to O. I know that is not enough so that is probably why it did not happen. I will keep focused on that and see what happens. Thanks

Oh, and you asked if anyone had used it to get pregnant. Yes, we used it to get pregnant and to avoid pregnancy our whole marriage. Using it to avoid pregnancy is quite different though, it requires proper instruction from a teacher for it to work. Using it to get pregnant only requires knowing the basics, so don't worry about how confusing it is right now. You'll get the hang of it as you go along!

Thanks. I appreciate it. My husband thinks I am taking it a bit far but I want to make sure I am ovulating.

I got off of bcp 2 months before I got pregnant in November and I had never temped or charted before. We were ttc #3! Well, with this ttc go around, I tried the temping and charting as soon as I got off of bcp and we got pregnant within 2 months! It is very helpful IMO and you really get to know your body and what it does throughout the cycle! I recommend it to anyone who can keep up with it! GOOD LUCK!

YES! That's another great thing about it - it helps identify reproductive health problems much earlier than if you weren't charting! Lack of mucus, annovulation, PCOS, hormone imbalances...all can be identified with charting!

Great thanks. Then in a couple days I will ask people to stalk my chart and let me know what is going on.

We have used charting to get pg with our last 4 kids, and now this one that I am pg with.

Charting helps me to see where my fertile days are. I can watch my CM and tell when I am about to O, and then when my temps go up, it confirms it for me.

I personally love charting. It gives you much insight into your body.
