Ok I have been charting since Saturday. Yes just barely getting started. AF hit the same day I started charting....I am just wondering why the temps keep shifting all crazy like...
I went back up to 97.9 today????!!!! I just don't get it. I am waiting for AF to stop so I can start checking CM and such. Next week I will start trying out those OPK's. Starting the 11th day and so on....
My tummy was not feeling too great this morning and I am sure I was a bit restless maybe that is why....

If you wake up before you normally take your temp and did sleep for 3 hours or more....and fear you will not be able to get back to sleep....is it ok to take your temp then or no??

Glad to have you on board! I find that temping during AF shows eratic temps sometimes. So don't worry about that. During your cycle you may have a wacky temp sometimes, but it's okay. It's the pattern that matters. As far as when to temp, rule of thumb is you should temp at the same time each morning with at least 3 hours of sleep. If you want to take your temp early, then try and get 3 hours of sleep and re temp that's fine. If you don't get back to sleep then you can always use the temp corrector. I wouldn't recommend using the temp corrector all the time though. You're chart won't be accurate.

Good Luck, if you have anymore questions feel free to ask!

Temps during AF can be all over the place. That is normal. Some people have them high, some low, some erratic, bouncing up and down every day. It just depends.

As for temping before your normal time because you might not be able to get back to sleep, how long before your normal time was it? If it's within an hour (30 minutes before or 30 minutes after) of your normal time it's fine. If it's further, I can't really say because everyone is different! My temperature is pretty stable after I've gotten three hours of sleep ... I could temp at 6, 7, 8, 9, etc going back to sleep between each one and it would only vary about a tenth of a degree ... not enough to matter for just the one day. But for some women the difference is much bigger, and that could matter.

So try to stay within that hour around your normal time. Outside of that you can temp, for example if you wake early, but it won't be considered accurate for charting purposes. It will be noted in Fertility Friend as an open circle and can throw off your interpretation if it's close to your O date. If that happens just try your best to get back to sleep until your normal time, or at least stay in bed and relax. Then you'll have two temperatures and if the one taken early is obviously throwing off your chart you might want to revise it based on the other temp.

There are also "temp correctors" but since everyone's change over time is different, they might not be accurate for you. Using them once in a while, during an otherwise predictable cycle, doesn't hurt much if that one temp isn't vital to determining your O date.

Thanks girls. I am still having a hard time.....I normally have a hard time sleeping somewhat. I go to bed around 9:00ish....and wake up by midnight. Then go pee fall back asleep and tend to wake up on and off the rest of the time. So confused. Yeah my temps since AF has been here has been all over the place. Today hubby talked to me and i had to answer him while temping....messed it up I think. Too high.

I don't think that you screwed your temp up with the high temp, I always spike up high straight after AF, and I'm pretty sure I've seen some other charts that do that too. Might just be you, you'll have to watch what happens over a couple of cycles to learn what's normal for you.
