Hi everyone, I was wondering if any of you know what could be causing me to spot so much before my AF. Two cycles ago, I spotted for 5 days prior to AF, but it was heavier than this time. I've had just a tiny bit of brown spotting for 6 consecutive days. I can't tell if I'm on 11 or 13 DPO, I may have had a fall back or something. This is the first month that we've used pull n' pray so I'm a little worried that this may be implantation, but since I've had something kinda like this happen before I'm wondering if I have something wrong with me? It's really inconvenient to have this much spotting! Thanks for any help

Here's a link to my chart: My Chart

Implantation bleeding occurs around 7 -10 days after your fertility Peak. Pre-menstral spotting, especially if it's brown, can indicate low progesterone. A bio-identical progesterone cream applied after ovulation can help with that.

Scratch that - I didn't read your chart before answering, I thought you meant the spotting STARTS on day 11 (that would make it pre-menstral). It looks an awful lot like implantation bleeding and within the appropriate parameters.

It could be implantation. I'd test to be sure.

Sorry for jumping in here.. but I always have brown premenstral spotting for about 2-4 days prior to my AF. What should I take to help with this?? I never knew that it could be anything.. or could be helped.

thanks

I'm glad I'm not the only one . It's not painful or anything, it mostly just annoying. Also, I spot 1-3 days after AF which in total puts me at about 12 days of AF/spotting a month. It's just so strange, it's the teeny tiniest bit of spotting, I may not even notice it if I wasn't looking

I tested yesterday morning and it was neg. I'm sure I'm not pg, I just can't help but think about the small possibility that I am.

I wish I could ask my doctor, but I don't have one since insurance is so expensive.

The best reply I can give you is to wait a few more days or test with FMU. IF it turns out you aren't pg, then i'd definately make an appt with your doc, because breakthrough bleeding is something to look into.

Good Luck, let us know how it turns out.

Another BFN this morning with a dollar store test. I think AF is right around the corner. If AF's not here tomorrow I'm gonna test with a digital on Wednesday. Even though we aren't trying, I would be happy if I was pg right now

The spotting is just a little tiny bit, but this is the 8th day of it! It's just noticeable on tp about 2 times each day. My temp went down today so I'm expecting AF any minute. This is only the second time my LP has been 13 days, the last time was 18 cycles ago when I first came off the pill. That cycle I only had 1 day of spotting. I'm thinking maybe I should go back on the pill because this much spotting can't be a good thing. Thanks for all your help everyone

How long have you been off of BCP's? It can take a while for your body to balance itself out hormonally. Low progesterone can cuase bleeding at this time but so can other things. I have been off of BCP's for four months and I have had brown spotting for 5-7 days before AF and then a full 5-7 days of AF. I went to my OBGYN and she took blood to test my progesterone and found it was low. She also did an ultrasound and found that I have an enometrial Polyp. I am having surgery next month to have the polyp removed becuase it can interfer with implantation. I am certainly not inquiring that you have either of these issues but I thinkit is certainly worth a doc visit if it has been going on for a while.

What would going on the pill do? It would only cover up the problem and it will still be there when you come off again. Low progesterone is a very simple condition to treat!

How do you treat low progesterone? I don't have a doctor right now so I can't get any medical help. I can get the pill from planned parenthood. Also, the spotting gets worse and worse the longer I'm off the pill. And one other thing, spotting and pain are symptoms of endo, and if I have that then the pill will help control it for a few years. I won't be able to have insurance until we start teaching after we graduate in 2 years.

Anyways, AF came today, so it wasn't implantation. I was pretty sure it wasn't that but I kinda wish it was so that I wouldn't have to worry about what's causing all this spotting. It ended up being 8 days in a row this cycle!

I'm going to try exercising more regularly and eating healthier to see if that helps the spotting. After a few months, if I'm still spotting this much I'm probably going to go back on the pill I guess.

Thanks again ladies for all your help!!

[You can treat low progesterone with bio-identical progesterone cream. If the problem is more severe, there are suppositories and injections you can use, but you need a doctor for that. Yes, it probably is getting worse from being off the pill because your body is trying to recover. The pill can create a lot of hormonal chaos when you try to come off of it. You will have to deal with this eventually, because you can't stay on it forever. The solution is to give your body at least 6 - 18 months to heal completley from the effects of the pill. The cheapest solution isn't always the healthiest one in the long run.

And yes, a good diet and exercise will help a lot! Make sure to include lots of B vitamins, and healthy fats (like olive oil, coconut oil, etc.)

I think there are over the counter progesterone creams but I am not sure how effective they are. If the spotting continues over the next couple of cycles I would highly recommend getting in to see a doctor. I have the same exact thing and my spottong is from a uterine polyp that I am having removed in the end of March. There is no real health risk but it does make it really hard to get pregnant because they act like and IUD and the doctor will want to remove it if they find somthing. How long have you been experiencing this? How long have you been off the pill?

Anyway, just a thought. Good luck to you

Hey sweetie, Would planned parenthood help you out with the spotting? I've been to them before for birth control, but wasn't sure if that's all they do. Maybe the doctor or nurse practitioner there and give you some ideas of what's going on. Sorry about AF. PM me if you need anything.
