My battery is almost dead on my thermometer and I am going to have to get a new one as this one is a cheapy and you can't replace the battery but whatever anyways I need to get a new one but will that mess up my temps?

I had to do that, I got the same thermometer as I had before so it wouldnt screw it up too much.

I will try and find one like it but when I looked last weekend I didn't see any. would it be ok to get a different kind?

Get what you can hun! Make sure if you can to get a couple of them that way you have another one on hand.

I think it should be okay. I would just get a new one and not worry about it.
