so i decided that i want to temp now. i'm starting late though. i'm on cd 7, i need to change my signature. last night when i got home from work, i checked my cp & it was high & soft. this morning, i checked it again & it was still very high & soft with stretchy ewcm. ewcm isn't mistakeable for sperm, is it? we bd last night. i took my temp this morning & it was 69.98. i've randomly taken my temp before in the morning & it's never been that low. is it possible that i'm oing already? it seems so early! we had a fan in our window all night blowing cool air in. the window is right by the top of our bed. can that effect my temp? thanks!![/b]

Yes, seminal fluid can hang around for up to 24 hours. You can usually tell the difference between SF and mucus though by looking at the toilet paper after you wipe. SF will dissolve into the paper within a matter of several seconds, mucus has more "body" - it will sit on top of the paper without absorbing into it for a long time.
FWIW, internal observations are the least accurate way to observe mucus. During the infertile parts of the cycle, the mucus dries up as it passes through the vagina over glands called the Pockets of Shaw. Checking internally disrupts this process, and so you will think you have more fertile days than you actually do. If you like knowing your cerivacal position, just check at the end of the day so as not to disrupt that day's mucus observations.
