I read that the average luteal phase is 14 days. According to FF, mine is only 10 days. Should I be worried? Should I wait to see what it is this month? Because last month was the first month that I started charting. Would it vary that much from month to month?

I'm just wondering if maybe 10 days isn't enough time for the bean to stick.

Good question! 10 days is just on the border of being healthy enough to sustain pregnancy. You might want to try vitamin B6 or bio-identical progesterone cream AFTER ovulation to help support your luteal phase length.

A healthy LP is generally considered 11-16 days. Under 10 is considered too short. 10 is right on the line.

Now are there any factors that might be affecting your LP - have you recently discontinued hormonal birth control or are you breastfeeding? If yes to either, time might be all you need for your LP to lenghten.

Hope that helps!

Well, I did stop taking birth control pills last November. Maybe that could be it. So I guess I shouldn't worry too much about it.

Thanks for the help.

Yes, definitely. Your body needs at least 6 months to recuperate from the BCP, so hang in there. It should improve with time.

Not to high jack the thread, but I am going through the same issue, only no BCP or breastfeeding in the last 2+ years. What else could be affecting it? I am going to the RE on the 12th and am hoping that she can help, but would love to walk in already pg. I'll try the B6!

Thanks!

Your blinkies say PCOS - that can be a contributing factor for a short LP.

I have a LPD, I tried progesterone, and while it helped a bit--I went from 7-10 days to 11, I didn't like the side effects. I tried B6 and it didn't seem to do anything for me, but I only tried it for one cycle. I'm now on my first cycle of Clomid.

Good luck!
