A temperature"dip" is something that is completely inconclusive, but has taken on a life of it's own in the world of mythology. LOL Some women get them, some don't, and it really doesn't mean anything at all. You can ovulate with one or without one.
What is conclusive is the scientifically documented thermal shift. Progesterone is produced after ovulaiton and causes the basal body temperature to rise after ovulation. So when you see a thermal shift, 3 temperatures which are at least .2 degrees higher than the previous 6 - you can be quite certain that ovulation has occured, dip or no dip.
Hope that helps!
