I have been using OPK's for about a week now, and everytime, only saw the dark control line. This is my first time ever using them. Never needed them before. Anyways, last night's strip, I could actually see a bit of a light second line coming up. So, I know that is a negative test, but does this mean that the line will continue to get darker, until it matches the control? How long does that usually take?? I'm just really trying to pinpoint when I ovulate.
DH and I resorted to condoms for the moment since I was just getting paranoid. And according to my CM and all FF says I'm "most fertile" at the moment. We just want to wait till after my first new cycle to try again.
I was beginning to wonder if I would even ovulate before my firt period or not. But seeing the faint line made me feel a little better. And perhaps I won't get my period while in Florida this week!!

I was just wondering how long it usually takes when you see the faint line to get a positive OPK....and also how long after the positive is it safe to resume non-protected BDing. After this first cycle, I don't care if I get pregnant, will welcome it gladly in fact. I have one doc that told me I didn't have to wait, and one that told me 2 cycles....so, I'm just going to let whatever happens happen after my first.

Thanks for the help girls!

Its really hard to say hun when your get a positive. You can go for a while without a positive opk then all of the sudden it show up. Not everyones gets darker either, and once you O its ok to BD 3 days later. As long as your temps say you did O, you can get a positive opk and NOT O.

I would not rely on OPKs to determine when to resume bding. You really need to watch for changes in your CM and see that a temp shift has occurred. As far as Oing first cycle back, I think some do and some don't. I'd keep temping and using your OPKs and see what happens. I think a lot of people OPKs do get gradually darker. I have yet to have a positive OPK so I can't give you any personal input on that yet.
