how bad is my chart looking? i know this is only my 1st month charting and what not and i know i am pretty lame for thinking this way but i was positive i would get pregnant right off the bat i tested yesterday and the day before and it was of course BFN yesterday my temp dropped dramatically... another thing is they changed my o day from the 18th to the 19th which i just dont understand why... if some one understands that please inform me.... of and another random question i know from the typical menstration charts and my biology and maternity text books that LH only surges at O time and levels out for the 1st half and second half of the cycle with out increasing again, but just for fun last night i used on OPK and it wasnt positive but like almost ya know?? so what does LH do if conception occurs??? (did anyof this make sense???

I think your chart looks good for your first time! I think you'll probably end up getting AF tomorrow or Wednesday though...

It looks great for a first chart!

Right, LH surges just before ovulation. LH is the hormone responsible for making the egg pop through the ovary - so it serves no other function after ovulation. We all have a certain level of LH in our bodies all the time, it's the surge or sudden increase in it that signals ovulation and that is what OPKs measure. Whether conception occurs or not, LH is still just hanging out. However, an OPK can be used an HPT because at a molecular level, LH and HCG (the pregnancy hormone) are almost identical - so an OPK can detect HCG thinking it's LH because they are so similar. BUT, the test has to be positive. Just about or almost positive is not a positive test result with an OPK, it's a negative.

Hope that helps!
