I have a question. I am looking into starting charting for when we start trying for my 2nd but I dont know if I can. I have never had a regular period in my life, and I am still breastfeeding. I might get my period anywhere between 14 and 40 days. I tried ovulation sticks when I was trying before, and they told me I was ovulating 10 days before I really did, so those didnt work for me. I thought I was 8 weeks pregnant, and according to when I had my period I should have been 8 weeks but I was measuring 10 days earlier. My dr said because my cycles are weird those things cant really tell me much. Any suggestions?

You could still chart. Since you aren't actively TTCing at the moment, you can temp for a couple of months to see if there's a pattern starting at all - not neccesarily in days, but with your CM, and make sure that you are ovulating. I'd temp and keep track of my CM for a few months if I was you just to see. If you haven't already taken it & have never charted before, Fertility Friend has a charting course that will help you get started.

It sounds like when you were using the ovulation kits, that your body was trying to O and then didn't at that time, so it tried again and then you O'd. Temping would help you see whether or not you ovulated alongside the OPKs. The OPKs can only show that you are about to ovulate, the temping with charting your cervical mucus will confirm whether you did or not.

I would start charting as soon as AF shows up again because then your be able to get into the hang of it hun. As for the opks it sounds like you may try to O sooner but dont O and O later on which is why you get the positive opks.

There is also a sticky at the top that can help you get started charting. Once you are able to pinpoint ovulation, you can use charting now to avoid pregnancy and then when you are ready to ttc just switch on over to using charting to achieve pregnancy
