I just bought my first thermometer yesterday and temp'd this AM to start plugging into FF...

What's the diff. b/w a regular thermometer and a BASAL one?

Is it just the cute pink tip on the end (or is that just mine ) and the fact that it does .xx degree?

For instance, if I were sick... I could still use that one in the daytime, right?

A basal thermometer measures temperatures by tenths of a degree. Most regular thermometers measure by two-tenths degree.

So the main difference is accuracy. Also most BBTs have a recall function, which I've never seen on a regular thermometer. And of course cute colors.

As for using your basal thermometer during the day, I don't see why not. Mine beeps differently if I have a fever, actually! Normally it beeps three times, pretty slow. If it's over a certain temp it beeps six times very quickly. Pretty convenient.

The only thermometer we own is my Basal, & I've used it to check for fever with me before.
