I'm not charting this cycle (just needed a break) but I plan on starting back up next cycle if we didn't catch the egg this time. Last cycle I temped using a regular digital thermometer and my temps were pretty irregular, but my timing each day was off too. Do you think I should get a BBT? Some people say it doesn't really matter if your consistant, which I wasn't - but next cycle I want to do everything the right way. I just started a new job so I get up at the same time every morning which would also help with temping at consistant times each day. How do you guys temp...orally or vaginally? What is the difference between temping with a digital thermometer and a BBT? Any suggestions are welcome

I'd say YES, you do need to get a BBT... and you also need to temp at the same time each morning.

I temp orally but ladies on here that temp vag. say it is more accurate & stable & their charts prove it!

Okay, thanks for the advice. I'll have to pick up a BBT next time I'm at the store!

I say get a BBT too!! I dont always get up at the same time each day since it is summer...but I do have my alarm set to go off at 6:35am which is when I get up during the school year. I take my temp then, and sometimes go back to sleep.

If you are thinking about buying a new thermometer get a BBT. I used a regular digital for years, and it was fine, even for TTA where it is more important for it to be accurate. But, the one I used worked EXACTLY like a BBT thermomter, so the only real difference was that it wasn't pink/purple.

I use a BBT one now so that my kids know not to touch it, it is special for mommy. I temp orally. I sometimes think I am going to try vaginal, but never follow thourgh.

If I were you I would try a BBT and consistent times. If your chart is still irratic then swith to vag temping.
