First I want to say welcome! I'm Stephanie, one of your co-hosts on the fertility charting board. This is a great bunch of very supportive ladies. I'm sure you'll love it here.

To answer your questions, most of the girls use digital because it's easier to read that when you have just started to wake up. Basal thermometers are recommended because they are slightly more accurate. They read to .01 where regular digitals just read to .1 Which kind you use is really up to you. The important thing is that you are consistent, using the same thermometer the entire time, temping at the same time each and every day, after getting at least 3 hours of sleep.

LIke I said, we have some girls that use regular digitals and say it's easier for them because the thermal shift is more clearly defined. I personally prefer the basal with the extra accuracy. I got mine at Wal Mart for under $10.

I started with a basil but decided to go with a regular one, they are much easier for me and cheaper. (Basil was $20 here) I use a plastic thermometer because I like it hear it beep so I know it's working and when it's finished.

Hi! I'm Tiffany. I use a basal thermometer too, I bought mine from CVS for $8! I don't even know what brand it is, I just bought the only one they had.

to the board hun! Sorry I havent been around I am having issues with this board!

I would go with a digital its easier, beeps when its done and also you dont have to wait 5 mins for it to go off. You can use a regular as long as it goes by the tenths and not every 2 tenths. So I have 2 regular ones ones goes 97.0 to 97.2 to 97.4 where my other goes 97.0 to 97.1 to 97.2 you want one like my second one.

Good luck! Sounds like the PP gave you good info...i bought my thermometer at Walmart...and got a basal one...that is what i recommend too...I think I got a BD one..it beeps and all and keeps the last temp so you can turn it on once and it is there. the only thing i dont like is that it doesnt have a lit background...so sometimes i use the light from my cell phone to see what the temp is so i dont have to turn on the light. i usually go back to sleep after taking it in the summer...since i dont have to get the kids up quite so early!!
