I'm confused about why I had a temp spike today. I did wake up an hour later, but even if I adjust it, it's still a huge spike. I did wake up sometime during the early morning, but it was like that not-really-awake kind of awake where you just roll over, I didn't get up or open my eyes and I wasn't even really 'with it' yet. The house temperature was the same, and I had on the same amount of clothing.
I just don't get it.. I was spotting until yesterday morning, even though I had what seemed like pretty sticky CM yesterday afternoon (once) also.. it was the stickiest that I think I have ever had, but it was just a one-time occurence. Today I am pretty wet (watery). On the off-chance that I was O'ing bizarrely early, I took an OPK, which was -. I have had a feeling for the past 3 days in my stomach, kind of like really light cramps/pains. I don't know.. I really feel like giving up .

I can't say really. But, you did have a weird spike like tha ton your last chart, maybe it is normal for you to spike a few days before you O.

True.. I guess the difference is that one was on CD20 (and I am still not sure if I really O'ed that cycle) and with this one.. I just stopped spotting today.

Sometimes you just O at different times. I O'd 7 days early this cycle.

When you stop spotting has nothing to do with when you O. People have been known to O while they still have AF in full force.

Hi Kim, the 1 hour difference when you took your temp today could have made that spike, imo. FF says that every women has different rates of metabolism, so when we take our temp at different times each day, it will give a slightly off BBT temp. For some women, 1 hour does not make a big temp difference, but for others, it may cause a big temp difference. That's why temp adjustment is rather inaccurate. Also, when you take your temp an hour early, it is difficult to guess whether you would get a temp rise or temp fall. And it is hard to say "how much" the temp will differ when you take it at different times of the day.
My temp has always been higher if I take it at 7.30am compared to the one at 8.30am (about 0.3~0.4 deg difference). It would look like a big spike if I were to use the earlier temp in my chart. Have you tried taking your temp at different times in the morning?

I had a spike before I O'd too, but then took a dip again. So don't give up just yet.

I usually temp around 8-9am, and I never notice much of a fluctuation.. but if I happen to temp a bit later, I usually adjust it or throw it out or make note of it. I know temps supposedly go up the later you wake up.. but even when I have woken up later before.. I've never had that big of a jump. It seemed pretty random.. the calculator brings it down .2, which is still a decent spike. I know spotting has nothing to do with O'ing and that they can happen at the same time.. but I was starting to think that I was O'ing really late (or not at all) after last month (first month charting after TTC for 2 years).. so this temp + my CM kind of threw me off.
Ah well, I guess we'll see what tomorrow's temp brings. Thanks for your advice, everyone!

Hmm.. looks like maybe yesterday's temp was a fluke now. I guess we'll see.. I adjusted it on there just for fun, it doesn't make much of a difference though.
