As if that one temp spike didn't throw me for a big enough loop, what the heck is up with this dip today? I normally temp at 8am (with the exception of the day of that spike, that was 9.. I adjusted it down .2), and I even got up with the alarm today. I actually slept in more clothing then usual last night (pants), and the house temp was the same as it always is. I even had my husband take his temp to make sure it wasn't the thermometer (it's not).. so WHAT is going on? Ugh, this cycle is really making me want to give up.

Hon, our temps can be pretty erratic before O.
So this is totally normal!
Don't give up!!!

When do you usually O?

Mine dipped one day and then I didn't O until the next (had 2 really low temps in a row) this cycle.
Keep temping & BD'ing & you'll be fine!

GL!

I have no idea if I do or not or when.. that's the problem! lol I am pretty sure that I didn't last month, and that was my first month charting (though we were TTC for 2 years).. I really wanted to chart three cycles before going to my doctor so that she wouldn't just tell me to chart, but it's soo hard to get through these three cycles.

A dip like that could indicate that you are going to O soon. Another thing I noticed though is that your temps are really low, which could indicate a thyroid condition, do you have one? or have you been tested?

I was tested last fall and everything was fine.. I wondered the same thing for different reasons, but everything came back fine. I also meant to add that a 'normal' temperature for me is around the mid-high 97's, and not 98.6.

I agree that the dip could be because you are getting ready to O. I get that all the time. I know it's frustrating but the doctor will just make you do it anyway, so it's good you are doing it now.

Yeah, that was my logic.. it just sucks!! lol

Actually, maybe you guys can help me here... let's say this period coming up and my next are 'regular', that would mean that my last period (end of cycle #3), should come on/around 9/16.. (and if 'normal', last 4 days) when would be a good time to schedule an appointment? I don't want to miss the chance to have blood work done at 'the right time' and have to wait a whole other month.. so if there is a chance that I could have it done in September, I'd like to schedule my appointment then and not have to wait until October.

Do you remember what the numbers were when they tested your thyroid? The lab values for what is considered high has changed drastically. A lot of general practice docs don't know this and may have been using the old standard. Also, if you ar ein the high range of normal you may actually be off for you. I know I feel best when I am at about 1 for my TSH, you are considered high above 3.2-4.0 (depending on the lab). So if I come up at 2.5, that is 'normal' but for me signals that I need my meds adjusted.

Meghan,

I called and my level in October was 'normal' at 1.50. I also made an appointment for 9/24.

When you see htem have them test the TSH and the free thyroxine. If you are high normal for TSH but low for the other, it could still indicate a porblem that is sub-clinical, which means the tests are normal but the thyroid is starting to have problems.

Thanks .. I read that low basal temps can mean that you're low in one of several hormones (Estrogen, etc).. so it's possible it's something else, as well. I never really thought about it until you said something.
