I have had two children and never charted at all. Both of my pregnancies were easy - one completely unexpected and the other a first try experience. However, my husband and I are deciding whether to TTC #3 and I am currently starting to chart - mostly because I like NFP more than other forms of birth control.

What I would like to know is - when is the best time to baby dance if I WANT to get pregnant? Would it be at the first sign of the EWCM of ovulation? Or, by the time the EWCM shows, is it already too late (i.e. have I already ovulated)?

TIA!!

You should start BDing as soon as you see fertile CM.

I generally start after AF is gone, and DTD every other day until I see EWCM. Then I DTD every day until I am sure I O'd.
Hope that helps.

To maximize chances of conception, the NFP guidelines for conceiving are this:

BD on alternating evenings prior to the onset of cervical mucus (this builds up sperm in a supply and demand kind of fasion). Then once the mucus arrives, WAIT! Wait until the mucus becomes slippery (this builds up plenty of fresh sperm over the course of a few days), and then BD. This allows lots and lots of fresh sperm to be deposited at the time you are *most* fertile.
