I woke up super late today, about 1pm. I don't really remember waking up at 7 to take my temp, but the cap to the case my thermometer stays in is missing, so I know I did. Well, I checked the recall button and my temp said 98.5! That's high for me, even if it was a post-o temp! I temped again (when I awoke at 1) immediately after noticing how high my temp was at 7am and it was 97.8. I hadn't moved much, other than to pick up my thermometer and check the recall button, prior to taking the 2nd temp. Which temp should I record? Should I use the 97.8 and try a temp corrector site? The reason my temp from the day before is discarded is because I drank the night before that, and any alcohol makes my temp spike very high, so I discard it. I really don't think I've O'd yet, and I just want my chart to be as accurate as possible.

Hi Stacy, I think the 97.8 temp is more accurate. If you use the temp corrector, what is the new temp that it gives you, is it as high as 98.5? Any waking activities will give a higher temperature, that's why high temp is easier to be inaccurate. Its harder to make a mistake with a low temp, unless you sleep in a colder than normal place, or if you didn't place the thermometer in your mouth correctly.

So, whenever I take a few temps, I usually take the lower temp, unless the high temp turns up more frequently. Does that make sense? heheh, I'm still new to charting, just giving my 2 cents since no one replied to your post.

I would go with the 1pm temp, DONT corrector it either. Not everyone is the "rule of thumb" when it comes to correcting the temps. If your not sure you took it at 7am its best to do it at 1pm. I have noticed that mine are lower in the afternoon through, so it may have been right. But to be safe take the 1pm one.
