I have two temps that were taken when the room was REALLY cold. I woke up shivering both times and couldn't get warm after that. I still recorded the temps, but I was curious if the room temp can affect body temp? I was hoping for a nice smooth LP this time. My temps were so steady before O... I was hoping for steady temps after too.

The only way it should make a difference is if yout thermometer is a quick read type that gives the read out in less than about 12 seconds. If it is quick read your mouth will not have time to warm up the thermometer before it gives a temp and it will be low. I learned this from perosnal experience I bought a rapid read one that gave the read out in 9 sec and my temps were below 96 a few times, that is really low even for me.

If you are worried about it hold the thermometer in your hand for about 5 seconds or so to warm it up before you take your temperature.

But, your actual body temp should remain a constant rate because of your metabolism.

Thanks!

Mine is the really slow kind... like 5 minutes sometimes. Sometimes I almost fall back to sleep waiting.

Maybe it was just a coincidence that both low temps were when I was freezing all night. Today I was nice and toasty and my temp was nice and high... LOL I think I over-think sometimes...

Thanks again hon

I'm looking for the link to post, but yes, I've read (I think on FF) that room temp can affect your temp. I'll edit this when I find the link.

ETA: I found it! Here's the link. If you look at the list it's the third thing from the bottom.

FACTORS THAT AFFECT TEMPERATURE

I keep a little notebook, and anytime something happens that would affect my temps, like the room being cold, the kids or DH (my biggest kid! lol) waking me up, A nightmare that really got me worked up....... ANYTHING out of the ordinary gets written in the notebook (I keep it with my chart) so that I know that temp might not be accurate. Hope that helps.
