so i was reading some stuff and a lot of websites tell you to check you CM you need to insert your fingers into your vagina...i dont do that i just check what comes out of me...is that how you ladies do it or am i doing it wrong?
I check internally because I personally get a better sample/reading or whatever that way. I do it the way that fertilityfriend suggests by inserting 2 fingers (yes, it was way unusual and uncomfortable at first!), then kind of wiggle them around the opening of the cervix to release the CM, slowly pull them out keeping them together, then I slowly separate my fingers to see how the consistency is. I know that some people do just fine with observing externally, but to each their own in this case I believe.

I just check mine externally when I wipe because I get a bit squeamish checking it vaginally. Usually if it is wet or EWCM, it will show up immediately on the tissue. Unless you don't see clear EWCM (or too little of it like Magan says), then maybe you can check vaginally. HTH.

TTC #1: 5 years (with PCOS, reoccurring fibroids, endometriosis, fluid in uterine cavity)
TTC history: 3 surgeries - myomectomy ('04), laparoscopy ('06), hysteroscopy ('07). 8 cycles of clomid/serophene, puregon; 2 cycles of IUI; 1 cycle of IVF, 1 more frozen emby for FET. Currently taking a break from western medicine and going for weekly acupuncture treatment and taking Chinese herbs. Praying for a miracle baby.
TMI - I generally check mine just when I wipe after using the loo. Sometimes if I don't notice anything that day, I will check internally.
I've heard it's usually easier to check after you've (TMI again) gone number 2.

I check internally because i could never get a good enough amount from just checking externally, i'm getting better at telling what kind of cm im getting now as well which always helps
