I would love to take a natural family planning or fertility charting class. Although I really don't know that we would use nfp I would love the education. I find it fascinating!

Yes, I would. I love learning about my body and what goes on with it, plus I would make my husband take the class with me so HE understands more.

I too would love to. I have been trying to catch up to speed with Charting, as I feel I have missed something somewhere.

It does help to have him go with you. I took NFP through the Couple to COuple League years ago. I used it for a long time to avoid pregnancy. But, it really came in handy when we decided to TTC.

We will be using NFP as our birth control once we have kids because I am hormonally sensitive and can't handle any kind of BC, so it really would help for him to know. They don't offer any sort of class where we live, so I am going to have to try and convince him to read some of the info himself.

I think that Fertility Friend has a charting course that it will send you by e-mail.

Have you look on ccli.org? They have couples that teach the classes, so they are located world wide, you may have another military spouse that uses it. They have a home course too. It comes with the text book, a BB thermomter, literature and a membership to receive their newsletter. They also provide a year of support, so if you have questions they will help you.

You can not rely on the method that FF uses for avoiding pregnancy. Their class is great for TTC, but you have seen it I am sure where FF gives an O dat eand then changes it. You can't rely on that when doing BFP to avoid.

I have the same problem with bcp. Every time I have tried to use them they make me really sick and give me serious migraines. I get migraines when I am pregnant too but they are really bad on the pill.

Just popping in to shed a little light on the availability of charting courses! These courses are designed to give couples all the information they need to avoid OR achieve pregnancy - unlike FF, which will just give you the bare minimum in terms of understanding fertility. There are real life classes you can take, private instruction, online courses, and correspondence courses.

As previously mentioned, the Couple to Couple League offers a correspondence course, if there are no local teachers. www.ccli.org

The Billings Ovulation Method has an online course you can take with the assistance of an instructor via email. www.woomb.org Of course, there are also Billings teachers all over the world for real life instruction too.

Northwest Family Services offers a correpondance course as well. www.nwfs.org

The Creighton Model does not do long distance training, but they do have training centers all over the US. www.fertilitycare.org

If anyone needs help checking to see if there are teachers or classes offered near you, let me know. It's not always easy to find out by checking the yellow pages, so give me your location and I can tell you where the nearest teachers are.

Love, your friendly neighborhood NFP Instructor
