Hi everyone. i had a question. I just started my period last sunday and I noticed a drop in my temperature that morning. Im very new to this temperature thing. When I looked at the sample of what your temperature should do, it shows that after your period starts, your temperature should start rising. It did rise on CD2 but then after that its been going down. Does this mean I won't ovulate? I do take my Temperature at the same time every morning, but I was wondering does the temp. get affected by being in an airconditioned room? This morning I tried something different. I took my temp. at the usual time, and since it was lower than yesterday, I turned off the aircondition, slept another 2 hours and then took it again. it was .4 higher.

is there a rule on taking temp. in airconditioned rooms???

sorry Im so new to all this!

Thanks

I think your temp is supposed to drop when you're on your period. It climbs back up after ovulation.

As for the AC, yes.. it could definitely affect your temperature. But I think if you're taking it at the same time every day and under the same conditions (either leave the AC on or off every night) you should be ok.

As long as you are taking your temp at the same time every day and in the same conditions AND are getting at least 3 hours of sleep before you take your temp, then it's fine. Everyone's charts are different and it's best not to compare yours to anyones until you have at least 1 chart done and know what is YOUR cycle. Every woman is different, so once you learn what your cycle is like you can easily view it against other peoples charts

In my experience, I've noticed that my temps before ovulation are usually pretty erratic--very up and down. Good luck to you, and I hope you O soon!!!

The day before or day of your period your temperature drops and stays low (or may even drop further after af leaves) until you ovulate. The day after you ovulate, your temperature spikes up to a higher level and then stays high. Once your temperature spikes, it is normally too late to conceive, so it's best to chart your cervical fluid and/or use opk (ovulation predictor kits) as well in order to catch the eggie.

I highly recommend the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility." It explains how all of this stuff works. Your local library should have it.

GL!

I agre with everyone else. Your temps are normally lower when you are in the waiting to ovulate period. I don't think the temp drop is anything to worry about. I also wanted to add that I don't think the ac really affected your temperature. I think it went up perfectly. Your temp normally rises by 2/10s of a degree for every extra hour you sleep (need to double check on this but I think that is right) and since your temp went up by .4 degrees that sounds about right.
