Do you temp vaginally or orally?

I use to temp orally for the longest time. I decided one cycle to just try vaginally--so I did both to compare(with different thermometers, of course!!!). I only temp vaginally now...seems more consistant to me.

Orally, but am ordering another thermometer to do vaginally.

Orally....actually I didn't know you could do it vaginally. How does that work? Do you have to have a different kind of thermometer? And this may be a bit TMI...but how far do you insert it?

I was talking to a friend that has lots of experience with temping and I was telling her my results weren't very consistent, they were all over the chart. She said that happens and to start temping vaginally and that's what I've done ever since. I've definately noticed an improvement in the consistency of my temps. I use a regular BBT. You're supposed to insert about the same amount, pretty much like orally (you try and do it in the same spot). I hold my BBT the same way and stop when I touch skin.

I do orally, prefer orally but have a feeling that vaginally should be more accurate...think abou tit, there are no chances that you slept with your vagina open...but you might sleep with mouth open then close an hour before you temp.

Try this now, take your temps, then put on the other side of the mouth, then in the middle, then hold the therm tight on your mouth and see how they all differ...orally means you need to remember how yuo took it from day one, so decided to always place under my tongue in the middle...

I did that once too. One that's important though is NOT to switch from oral to vaginal mid-cycle. Vaginal temps can tend to be a bit higher than oral temps.

Vaginally here. I love it b/c there's no guesswork on my charts. I used to do it orally and the constant erratic temps started making me mad. I have a lot of flat temps and I never have to worry if I sleep with my mouth open or anything.
