I woke up this morning at 4:50am. I had to go the BR, so I temp'd before going. I got a temp of 97.98. After DH left for work today, I fell back asleep for about 2.5 hours. I temp'd again (just to see) and got 98.23. Which temp should I use? Both are outside of my normal wake time, so it's going to leave an open circle.

What time do you usually temp? I'd probably go with whichever was closer to that.

I normally temp at 6am, but for some reason I had to go a lot earlier. SHampton on TTC board suggested that I go to FF temp corrector. When I did that the temp was 98.03.
One more question...do you think I should do this for times that I work at night and sleep during the day instead of night? My temps are usually charted as open circles, because they're off from my usual time.

I'm not quite sure about that one! I'd have to go back and read the bit in TCOYF about working the night shift

I say go with the first temp with the first question. You should have at least 3 straight hours of sleep before you temp.

As for the other question, that's hard. I'm not too sure since you can't temp at the same time everyday. I don't know how accurate your temps are going to be. If you temp, I say do it when you wake up from your longest amount of sleep. But still if you go 2 days where you temp in the morning and 2 days where you temp in the evening after sleeping, you aren't going to have an accurate reading. I know there are different types of charting, maybe you can try one that doesn't involve you having to temp.

I agree, I think you should find other ways. Here's what I'm going to recommend.... stop temping. Chart your CM, CP and use OPKs. This will show a much better picture. Since you don't have a regular schedule, taking your temps won't be very helpful. Another thing you might want to consider is getting a CBEFM- Clear Blue Easy Fertility Monitor. I rented one from THIS website. Only tough thing is you have to use FMU. For you I would say that would be whenever you wake up from your long sleep. HTH!!

Ditto--the CBEFM is wonderful to use if you can't or don't chart!

And....I would go with the first temp because you got at least 3 hours sleep with that one.
