Hey all. I'm TTC and I have a question about bbt. I work night shift 3 - 4 days a week. How should I do my temps? I have been checking every morning when I get up which is usually around 6 am, but when I work I usually go to bed around 8 am and get up around 4 pm. Then on my first day off I usually stay up all day then go to bed late that evening. Please help! Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm...I'm not quite sure how to answer you correctly, though I know there are a few girls who work rotating night shifts on here. I know that you need at least 3 hours of sleep to be able to get an accurate temp.

Anywho, good luck and WELCOME!

Hi and welcome! I'm Tiffany. I know there are other methods of charting that you don't have to temp. You might want to look into some of those. Without temping at the same time everyday after 3 hours of sleep your temps will be inaccurate. I would give you more info on your different options, however I am not educated enough on them. Hopefully, someone else on here can give you a little more info. Good luck!

I agree, I think you need other methods aside from temping. I would suggest using OPks, checking CM and CP. This will paint a pretty good picture by itself. It may take you a couple cycles to see what your usual pattern is. You have the option to temp on your off days at 8am and on your work days whatever time you wake up, but be sure it's always the same time! You will have a lot of open circles, but you may be lucky enough to get a clear pattern.

I would just take your temp every day anyway. Take it when you have had four hours of sleep. Your chart may not be as accurate but it is better than not temping at all. Fertility friend has something about this in their FAQ section.

I also agree with Stacey pay attention to your cm and if you can, use opks too.
