Sorry... I'm fairly clueless when it comes to charting. LOL!! I'm currently on bcp. We plan to start TTC around xmas. Being on bcp, you'd think I'd have normal 28-day cycles. I don't. They range from 25 to 30 days. Very annoying!! So, is it possible to "chart" while on bcp, or does that throw everything off? What does bcp DO anyway?? Keep you from ovulating? I'm so clueless.

Charting helps you figure out if & when you're ovulating, and how long your luteal phase is (the time from ovulation to menstruation). Since you're on the pill, you're not ovulating, so charting wouldn't tell you anything. If you just want to get in the habit of temping though, you can start now.

Bcps prevent ovulation, and keep your uterine lining thin so as to be inhospitable in the small chance that an eggie slips out.

I'm excited for you to start ttc!

I ditto what Jess said. If you want to learn more before you start charting, I recommend getting the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" and reading it! She has soooo much info in there that is helpful!

Well maybe if you plan to start ttc in December you could go off the pill now so that way when you actually start trying your body is working right. It sometimes takes a month or two to get things back to normal. You could start using a barrier method now and chart if you want to start charting.

That's a good idea, Patty! That would give you a few months to really see how your body works, ovulation wise. Good luck!!!
