1) I know the majority of us ovulate around day 14, but what day do YOU ovulate on average?

2) When you are taking your temperature in the morning, where do you take it from?

1. My ovulation day is all over the place. The 5 months that I've charted, I've o'd on cd19, cd21, cd11, cd14, and cd15.

2. I take my temp orally.

I've only been charting two cycles so far. Last month I O'd cd 20 and this month I'm on cd 17 and still waiting.

I temp orally too.

I O all over the place. I haven't successfully O'd since like..May though.

I temp orally, specifically my left side. I make sure to have the thermometer in the same pocket every time to be consistent.

I temp orally at 7am each day.

I've only charted for two cycles. Last cycle I O'ed on CD33 and this cycle I think it appears to be CD35 (ish... I can't remember without looking). I'm still waiting to see if I did O this cycle, though. I'm only 3 DPO and I had it happen last month where the temp fell and I didn't really O.

So when you ovulate on a later date does that mean your period comes later than normal? So the length of your cycle gets longer??

Good thing I asked where you take your temperature... cuz I honestly thought you take it ... "down there"

LOL! Taking your temp 'down there' is possible, too. I've heard that whatever way you temp, you have to keep doing it that way to keep things accurate.

From what I understand, your LP (or, leutal phase) is always the same legnth. So, if I understand this right... whether I O on CD 15 or CD33, I can expect to see AF 12 days later if my LP is 12 days long.

So, your cycle can change in length... it just varies on the first part of the cycle and not the second half.

Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I've read up on.

So if I've never had a cycle longer than 31 days, then I most likely ovulate the same exact time every month...?? Just because it seems like some womens cycles last a lot longer some days, but mine has never varied more than 2-3 days

Melissa, if your cycles are always around the same length, that means you are pretty regular(and it's a good thing). You can temp orally or vaginally, b ut you need to be consistent with whichever one you choose.

I'll give you a few examples based on my old LP:
One month everything was fine and normal, I ovulated on day 14, I had my period show up 14 days later and had a 28 day cycle.
The next month I had midterms and was stressed to hell, I didn't ovulate until CD 20, I had a 34 day cycle.
The next month I have no idea what happened, but I ovulated on day 10 and had a 24 day cycle.
My ovulation days varied and changed the length of my cycle, but my LP didn't change at all. I miss those days

I always temped vaginally--well, I started out orally, but switched to vaginally, as I felt it was more consistant--didn't have to worry about sleeping with my mouth open.

That's a very good thing that your cycles are pretty regular. I usually Od around CD 18, but only had 26-28 day cycles.

I am not sure when I am ovulating or if I am ovulating. I am pretty sure I didn't o last month. I think I tried to but didn't so I really can't answer your question. I temp orally as well.
