hi everyone, if my cycle looks annov as alot of people think, how long will by breakthrough bleeding take to come? doc has done some blood tests to test LH/FSH so will get results tomorrow. Also, she wants me to come back on the 21st day of my next cycle to do the progesterone test. She has also referred me to the infertility clinic, even though i have only been trying for 6 months( have only had 2 cycles in 6 months), however because i came off BC last nov she said she would refer me. Is this normal? i am so grateful that she has done that for me!!! What can i expect from infertitility clinic? Thanks everyone!!

It does look like you haven't ovulated YET, but you can't call a cycle annovulatory until it's over. Your body might just keep on trying to ovulate until it's successful (I have a friend who conceived a baby as a result of ovulation on CD81). Personally, I have conceived a baby as a result of ovulation as late as CD60. Breakthrough bleeding is associated with high estrogen levels when your body tries to ovulate, it's highly fertile! It may or may not be as heavy as menstruation is.

This sort of thing is VERY common while recovering from a synthetic hormonal contraceptive. It takes an average of 3-18 months to recover from most oral contraceptives, and up to 3 years if it was Depo Provera (the shot). Some women bounce back immediately, others take more time for their fertility to heal.

Hang in there! Your body might still try to ovulate!

Good nutrition is important, and good vitamin support too. But unfortunately, when your body is healing from a hormonal contraceptive there isn't any magic to rewind the effects or fast forward the recovery of your fertility. Time and patience are your friends.

There's a book called Fertility, Cycles, and Nutrition by Marilynn Shannon. It's got lots of great nutritional and supplemental advice for reproductive health.

I don't think it is anovulatory yet, as it is not over, and until it is over there is always still a chance. good luck!
