Hi ladies!! I have a very strange situation here.
I am usually very consistent, I get my AF on day 29 and it lasts for 7 days. Usually light for 3 days, heavy for two with full blown cramps and then goes back to light for 2 days and then stops. I took an OPK last cycle and it was positive on CD16 (oct 7). DH and I BD on Oct 1, 3, 5 and 9 (yeah we were busy lol)
I thought we had caught the eggie this month because I had every symptom possible (and still have most of them) but every HPT I have taken was negative.
Anyway, my AF was due on Sunday (13 DPO) and I started spotting dark brown CM & light pink watery stuff from 9 DPO until 11 DPO... and then got a very light AF a day early and it only lasted until Sunday night... still brown & pink with a little bit of bright red, but no clotting and full on cramps to the point where I expected it to be very heavy but it wasn't at all. I took one more digital last night to make sure since I would have been 14 DPO and it was negative again so I assume that was my AF.
So my question is... if my AF only lasted 2 days, will I be O'ing sooner than if it would have lasted for the 7 days? How do I chart this now? Do I start from where I started spotting the brown/pink? Do I start CD1 from when it was the light flow day (sat)? I'm confused Sorry girls, I'm a newbie...
Thanks for the help!!!!
Erin

Erin,
There is no way to predict if you ovulation will come earlier or later. It might, because you stopped bleeding sooner - but it might not.
However, I'm a little skeptical about the bleed being a true menstruationn since it was so short and not what you usually have. You would not be insane if you took another test in a few days.
Was the positive OPK the only thing that pointed towards ovulation at that time? Have you been tracking your CM or temps at all? I'm wondering if perhaps you didn't actually ovulate then, and all the spotting might have been a breakthrough (ovulatory) bleed.

I dont take my temps every morning, but I was tracking CM and CP. I started reading threads about women getting + OPK's for a few days in a row... I only took mine that day when it was positive... so I'm not sure of when I O'd, I was assuming it was the 8th or 9th.... but it could have been later too? I dont really know. I had EW CM for a few days after I thought I o'd as well...
I'm sorry I dont have much information, I'm new to all of this and was just trying to get the hang of it before we TTC... but I thought I may have had an oops this month anyway. Assuming I O'd on the 8th, all my symptoms started around 3 DPO.... maybe I actually O'd 3 days later? I dont know...

Well it's also possible to get a positive OPK and not ovulate. You could have ovulated later. When was the last time you noticed fertile mucus?

Probably around 2-3 DPO (assuming I thought I O'd on the 8th).
AF was due on Sunday, Oct 21 (approx 13 DPO, if I O'd on the 8th)
- noticed Spotting light pink & watery on Thursday, Oct 18 at 10am
- Spotting turned to a very dark brown thick CM by night time
- Thick brown CM + light pink spotting all day Friday, Oct 19
- No spotting at all Saturday, Oct 20 in the AM.... Few drops of bright red, followed by light "AF" started in PM with a darker pink/brown CM and heavy cramps with right side "O type" pain
- Sunday, Oct 21 (when AF was supposed to be due), continued with the dark pink/brown light AF, still cramping mildly, heavy abdomen
- Monday, Oct 22 - back to very light pink spotting to nothing in the PM, mild cramping
- Tuesday, Oct 23 - AM no spotting at all, 10am noticed light pinkish brown watery spotting again, right side O'type pain, mild cramping off & on.

Maybe I should wait until next week just to be sure?
It is weird, because I just don't feel well... I can't explain it, but there's something out of whack. I'm just confused I guess.
Thanks for the support ladies, it means a lot to me.

Given the training you are undergoing for your fitness competition, I'd say definitely test now and maybe even see if you can get a blood test. Better safe than sorry, KWIM?

True... I guess it wouldn't hurt. I'll have to test in the morning because I've already drank 3 L of water today LOL. Thanks again...

I think you may have ovulated a few days later than the 8th (just total speculation here, there isn't enough data to say for sure) and your alleged "AF" could still have been implantation. I would keep testing.

And test with first morning urine.
Also, I don't know anything about this training for a fitness competition, but excessive exersize can cause your cycle to stop altogether, so it may just be light from the training. Again, I know nothing about your training, just speculating.

Well, I forgot to test today LOL. I might just wait until I get back after this weekend. I still feel very sick to my stomach and my CP is still high and feels softer than usual... I dont know know if it is closed or open because I can't really tell the difference. Spotting has stopped as of yesterday sometime. I am still getting light cramping and still can't sleep worth a ######. Maybe it is my hormones that are out of whack... I dont know. If I O'd 2-3 days later than what I thought I did... I would be on 13-14 DPO right now and about 3 days past when my normal AF was due. Is it possible to O and conceive with a 10 day luteal phase?

Yeah thats another thing I'm waiting to see... it could just be because of that. I'm down to a lower bodyfat so it could be a factor as well.... but I've bben at a lot lower bodyfats with previous competitions and it never affected my cycles. Then again, I am getting older....
Blah... I'll keep you updated on what I find out though. My boobs are getting slightly tender again
