Is it normal for your luteal phase to vary any? I only have 2 non-pregnant cycles to go off of, but last cycle, my luteal phase was 13 days. I always have a day of spotting before my period starts. Last night, my spotting started, but continued through the day, and I'm guessing my period will start tomorrow. I thought I was good, until I double-checked my chart and realized that will only give me a 12-day luteal phase. Anyone have any information on a variable luteal phase? I plan to check my TCOYF book before bed, but I can't remember if it says anything other than "Most woman have a consistent luteal phase."

Women should have a consistent luteal phase, yes - but "consistent" means it shouldn't fluctuate by more than a day or two. There are situations where a the luteal phase can fluctuate more and it doesn't indicate a problem. Examples would be after discontinuing a hormonal contraceptive, while breastfeeding, during the first few cycles post partum, and in peri-menopause. In all of those situations (except peri menopause) - it's common for the LP to start out on the short end of the spectrum, and gradually lengthen with each cycle until it reaches a healthy length. In peri-menopause it can be all over the place, and that's just normal for that time of life.

My LP was very short, about 7-10 days, and it would vary each month.

12-13 days is very good though!

When is your DH coming home?
