Hi everyone! My name is Cori. I have been lurking here for a few weeks now. I am in the midst of my AF now, and I was thinking that I might start checking and charting my BBT this month.

So, I was wondering...how do I do it? Where can I get a good thermometer? How do I chart? I would love to know anything and everything you all know!

Thanks so much!

Cori

You can pick up a BBT thermometer easily at a drugstore or somewhere like Wal-mart. Just get one that measures to two decimal places!

I recommend signing up for FF's (FertilityFriend.com) online charting course. They'll email you a new lesson every day for like um.. a week or so that really explains charting very well! Lots of us here also use their website to track our charts. It's easy to just type in your temp and let it do the charting for you

Just take your temp at the same time every morning, after at least 3 hours of sleep, BEFORE talking/getting up/lots of moving/etc. Easy as that!

Thanks for the advice! I signed up on FF like you said. I was wondering, do you all recommend taking my temp orally or vaginally? And there's no thermometer that's better than others?

waginally will give you the most accurate temps. Any thermometer that goes to th .xx degree works, and it's best if it has a memory!

Okay, one more question: How far do I insert the thermometer?

the tip has to be inserted, but I insert mine so that at least an inch is in.....until the thermometer starts widening. I can't temp during AF, but it's more accurate.

I use to temp vaginally as well. I found that it was more consistant. When you're asleep, it's hard to tell if you sleep with your mouth open!

Just make sure you do it the same way EVERY day. Any change during your cycle can throw your chart off.

Good luck, and !!!!!!!!!!
