Hi ladies! I've never posted on this board before, but I need some help and would appreciate any information you can offer.

Anyway, I was reviewing my charts for the past 2 months (I've only charted for 2 months). And I'm afraid I have a short LP. When you look at the chart from this past cycle, I O'd on CD 19 and that gave me a 9 day LP (10 days if you count the day I started spotting before AF). If you scroll down my chart and look at the chart from September, FF says I O'd CD 16, but I don't think that is right because LP's shouldn't vary that much. Now, I'm thinking I O'd that cycle on CD 20, which would give me the same 9-10 day LP. If this is true, that I only have a 9-10 day LP, that's not good news.

What is your opinion about my charts? Is this probably why I haven't gotten pregnant yet? Would my LP have changed after having a baby because I have a 3 year old DD. Please, I need information and anyone/everyone's opinion on this. I'm really upset right now and all I want to do is cry.

I've got an appt with my doc on January 4th for my yearly. So, I'm planning on going ahead and charting this next cycle, so I can show her. I'm planning on posting this on a couple more boards, so you may see this other places too. TIA!

It;s hard to tell based off of the two charts, esp. since the first chart(sept) has no info on CM to verify your O date. I'd say give it another cycle, bring it up at your yearly, and your doctor may want to run some bloodwork. You can also take Vitex to help lengthen the LP. It's very possible that your cycle changed after your daughter too.

I'm dealing with the same kind of thing (9-10 day LP's) . This is the first month that I've tried charting, so we'll see what happens. Before I've been going off of my CP and CM to guess O. I read somewhere on JM that B6 is supposed to lengthen the LP, so I'm trying that this cycle. (I think you're supposed to take 100 mg/day but I'm taking more) I want to read more about Vitex before I try that. Hopefully the B6 will work and I wont need Vitex.

I agree with Jennifer.. it's hard to tell for sure because there's no CM data for Sept. You might have O'd later than FF says.. but..? Charting this next cycle and bringing it up at your Dr. appointment is a good idea.

I've only been charting a few cycles and noticed I had a 10 day LP too. I started taking vitamin B6 to try and lengthen it. Last cycle I took 100 mg and had a 12 day LP. Hopefully I see the same thing again this month and it wasn't just some crazy fluke, lol!

I personally wouldn't take more than 100 mg of B6... prolonged high doses can cause nerve damage and loss of feeling in the hands and feet.

Oh my gosh are you serious?!? I didn't know that. I was taking 200mg but now I'll go to 100mg. Thanks for the warning!

Yes, though I think I read if that happens most of the time stopping B6 will put everything back to normal. It's always a good idea to check up on side effects when taking ANYTHING so you know what to look out for!

I think I would wait another cycle before you panic. I do think your luteal phase looks a little short your last cycle but I am not sure if it is short enough to be concerned about. Just talk to your doctor and see what he/she thinks.

I had a 10 day LP for the past few cycles. I told my doc and he wasn't concerned. I asked about B6 and he said he didn't know of any proof but it wouldn't hurt to try.

I don't know anything about Vitex so I wonder if that could be something interesting.

Thanks ladies for your replies. I really appreciate it. If I do have a short LP it looks like it can be easily corrected. So, I will continue charting and looking forward to going to my doctor appt. Plus, I started 100 mg of B6 today, so we'll see what happens. Thanks again, everyone, I feel better now.

Me too! I guess we read too much about the positive effects these things have and forget about researching the negatives

When I got pregnant with my dd I must have been having 9/10 day LP. Since I gave birth my LP stayed about 9 days. I started 100mg of b6 and now my LP is about 12 days on average. It does help lengthen it, but don't know if we really need it! Good luck!

I would definitely keep charting. Most doctors aren't very willing to do anything medication wise if you don't have some proof of what's going on.

I had a short LP. I tried everything...B6, soy, progesterone cream, nothing really helped.

My doctor put me on Clomid. I got pregnant the first round, and had a m/c. This cycle, where I conceived...I took nothing other than progesterone supplements, and apparently, that did the trick. Now, I'm not saying that's your situation, but just telling you what worked for me.

For some people, the B6 is all they need to straighten it out.

Good luck to you!
