AF's been here since last Tuesday and doesn't show any sign of stopping! How long is too long? Or, how long is unhealthy? How long are yours? I went a whole year without AF and since AF returned they tend to be longer than what the used to be. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Mine is usually about 5 days. The first 2 days are really heavy, and then the last 3 pretty light.
Have you mentioned the length of yours to your dr? Why did you go a whole year without AF, were you on birth control or depo or something? If so, your body may just be adjusting...
I'm interested to see what the other ladies have to say.

I have PCOS and went for a year without AF. Then I got on Fortamet and my periods returned...praise God! My periods always used to be about a week long...7 days. But now they seem to be at least 3 days longer... I am not on BC.
My Endo. stopped taking my insurance so I haven't been in awhile. But next month my insurance changes and I will be going back to her again. So, I will definitely ask...
Sounds like your body is trying desperately to get back on track. But I have to Jennifer--if it doesn't stop after 10 days, I would give someone a call.
AF is STILL here! We've had really bad weather here (Oklahoma City area) and so I wasn't able to get out and about friday to go to the dr. Funny thing is, if it's ever been this long, it's usually pretty light. But I'm still going pretty heavy considering the length! The snow and ice have ended so I hope to be able to get in to see the dr. on Monday if it hasn't stopped by then. I'm hoping it will be gone by the end of the weekend (tomorrow!) so we'll see! I'll keep you posted!
I've had 12 day AFs if you want to count spotting. Are you bleeding heavily, or is it just light bleeding/spotting?
I tried talking to my primary care doc about it and she blew me off and told me it was normal. Pfft. Good luck talking to someone, I'm curious to hear what they say as well!

Well, I have had a few "longer" periods in the past but they were usually lighter and had more spotting than heavy flow. This one has medium-light. More than I would expect. I've actually had a few "accidents" in thinking that I wasn't going very heavy and then had to change tampons sooner that I thought I'd need to. I have noticed that I've had quite a bit of clotting too. It's normal for me to sometimes have a small amount during AF but this is more than I've ever experienced. I'm very curious to see what the dr. says! I will call tomorrow morning and I'll keep you updated! Thanks for all of your thoughts! It's nice having your support...
